Name the physical boundary
Write the boundary around a place, system, or measurable condition. For example, identify the last included fitting, the limits of demolition, or which trade supplies and installs a support.
Avoid broad phrases such as "by others" unless the other package is named. Use the construction scope gap matrix as the related control and keep the record with the estimate revision under review.
Connect the note to cost
Point the note to the drawing detail, specification section, addendum, or bidder clarification that controls the decision. Then identify the estimate code, quote line, or allowance carrying each side. A note that is not tied to cost can describe the gap without fixing it.
AACE recommended practices offer general estimating references. The project documents, contractor procedures, and approved estimate remain the controlling basis for the decision.

Test the handoff with both trades
Ask the estimators responsible for both packages to read the same note. They should agree on the interface, quantity split, temporary work, and closeout responsibility.
